The SAS in Trouble IIIThe special forces flight has 10 Chinooks to support Britain's every growing special forces. This was formed as a result of the American experience trying to use standard pilots on special forces missions (Tehran rescue). Unfortunately, the software does not allow the helicopters to be used in fog… It will cost £127 million to fix (remember the helicopter that hit a mountain in Scotland). 16 Air Assault Brigade is going into Afghanistan in June will supported by 10 helicopters… The British Harriers in Kandahar are being withdrawn just in time not to support them. A well known SAS commander suggested that the brigade needs troops to actually be deployed to protect the two roads leading from 'friendly' Pakistan. The most effective tactic of the Taliban/ Chetchen/ anti-west coalition in Pakistan would be to interdict the indefensible supply routes through the mountains. Air Assault Brigades are actually dependent on trucks for re-supply.
