Hotline America to ChinaOn November 5th 2007, America and China agreed to set up a hotline between their respective defence departments.This would be used to prevent any accidents or misunderstandings escalating into open confrontation. An example when it would be used would be if a Chinese submarine was detected within torpedo range of American carrier or a Chinese fighter plane collided with an American spyplane. These sort of incidents could turn 'hot' very quickly. The slightly worrying thought is that they have only just agreed to do it. |
